It is hard to believe, but 2007 is about to be history, and this is our last Friday Five of the year.
With that in mind, share five memorable moments of 2007. These can be happy or sad, profound or silly, good or bad but things that you will remember.
Bonus points for telling us of a "God sighting"-- a moment when the light came through the darkness, a word was spoken, a song sung, laughter rang out, a sermon spoke to you in a new way--whatever you choose, but a moment in 2007 when you sensed Emmanuel, God with us. Or more particularly, you.
Alrighty, here I go!
1. The high school graduation of Offspring #2 and the gathering of family and friends to help celebrate. Steven Colbert was in attendance on the cake. Offspring #2 had a great 'high school career' and is off to a great start in college now.
2. The performance of Offspring #1 as Viola in Twelfth Night at The Skagit River Shakespeare Festival. She is such a talented actor, and watching Shakespeare under the stars this summer was wonderful!
3. Visiting my cousin and his wife in Tennessee for our summer vacation. A highlight was going to Dollywood with Presbyterian Gal. (OK, I'll admit PG was only with us 'virtually'.)
4. Forming the "Empty Nest Hiking Club" with Hubby. While it has been weird to be "empty nesters", going on scenic hikes in the beautiful Pacific NW has helped take the sting out of it!
Hmmm... trying to think of one more...
5. Driving (with Hubby and Offsprings 1&2) to Portland last night in the driving rain (fairly spur of the moment) to go to Powell's Books, a lovely dinner at Jake's and bop around Pioneer Square. Ah, the full nest -- very good.
Bonus: God-sighting: I'm pretty sure God was on the Crosstown Trail on our recent snowshoe trip to Mt Hood.

Beautiful picture of snow and good luck with that empty nest club.
absolutely! God is in that beautiful scenery!
it has been a good year being buddies with you, too!
You've had a very good year!
What a gorgeous picture with God's light illuminating all! So nice to read and share in the landmark events of your life. Plus, I always like reading about you going up to Bellingham!
Loved the pictures with each memorable moment. Have a Blessed 2008.
A year in pictures! I've really enjoyed reading your blog and getting to know you via the cyber-world! many Blessings for 2008!
Five things from '07....hmmmm...
1) Definitive God moment! I had not been able to cross the state line due to anxiety about being too far from home (depression and bipolar); then my cousin got married before her fiance left for Iraq. It was on a Wednesday; on Tuesday afternoon I decided to go. When I crossed into North Carolina, I cried and cried. 1,333 days in Virginia were over. :)
2) The Moody Blues in concert at Wolf Trap, near DC (outdoor ampitheatre) on August 5th.
3) Losing my job on November 5th due to "budget cuts" (note the quotations).
4) Losing 99 percent of my time spent with my best friend, who worked right beside me.
5) My daughter turning 10 the same day my Dad turned 75 (we went BACK to North Carolina to celebrate! That's where my Dad lives...)
I've had better years, and 2008 will be one of them. :)
You had a wonderful year! And you were wonderful to share it with us. I certainly enjoyed Dollywood with y'all.
I love that last photo. It is one of those pictures that is almost too pretty to be real. It must have been a socks knock offer in person!
thanks everybody for visiting and commenting :)
That restaurant was great, I want to go there again soon! I love that giant powell's too, they have everything.
how long did it take you to get 9 comments on here? less than a day, that must be a record, eh?
isn't empty-nesting the weirdest? I knew that we were empty nesters when the milk kept going sour - I was still buying for four - and now we were two. God bless you in 2008.
:-)
What wonderful highlights you have had this year. We were in Tenn. this summer too. Wonder if we crossed paths unknowingly, did you feel a bit of internet surge via ESP? That was me. Love your sense of humor. Congrats on your kids.
revabi, I DID feel a bit of internet surge via ESP! :)
p.s. david, yes, let's go to jake's again sometime!
