old home movies

One other thing I did while on my "blogbatical" was play around with old home movies from my childhood -- using some of that footage to create new small movies. For example, I found a section which included my cousin and I made him a video birthday card.

Continuing the theme from an earlier post of giving my mom a hard time (!) -- here's a little movie I did saluting her parenting skills. It's especially fitting with Mother's Day right around the corner. Enjoy!

Remembering Marble

As most of you know, we had Marble for over 16 years. Today I gathered pictures of him to do a slideshow video. I set it to Al Stewart's Time Passages which worked really well. Only it didn't work well for Mr. Stewart who is reaallllly picky about copyright issues. Sheesh. (I would have happily paid but that wasn't an option.)

Soooo... the alternate soundtrack isn't as good, but it works.

Song #1 is Carole King's Brighter (because Marble made our world brighter). Song #2 is the Grass Roots' Glory Bound (because it is upbeat, I like the Grass Roots, and I guess one could say Marble is glory bound).

Anyway, we all love and miss Marble -- he was a one of a kind cat.

as a follow up to the exercise friday five...

Go You Chicken Fat, Go was actually on youtube! Apparently 1961 was the first year this song was used in PE classes, but it went strong for many years. Mrs. Scherbenske (my gym teacher) would probably still be using it if she wasn't retired.

It was weird to hear it again after all these years. I remembered a lot of the lyrics -- apparently they were seared on my brain.

Mr. Tumnus and the Singing Bear

I just got up to Bellingham (the college graduation of Offspring #1 is right around the corner!)

I delivered a graduation present that had come in the mail from my cousin in South Dakota. It's a singing bear, and we got a kick out of Mr. Tumnus' reaction to it.

I am really not fond of The Beach Boys. (Cars, girls, surfing. Yawn.)
However, they did do ONE song I liked (perhaps because Annette helped them out), and it seems like a good one to post for a mid-week break.

It's Day 2 of being semi-snowed in. (We can get out, but we're just not getting too frisky on the roads...) So, I had time to create a video Christmas card for my blog readers, with a special tip of the holiday hat to my 'regular' readers. Check it out!

the persistent mr. tumnus

Marble is less than pleased with the presence of Mr. Tumnus in our home. But Mr. Tumnus is trying his hardest to win over Marble.



It is snowing and icy out today, and we're sort of stuck at home -- so what else am I going to do but make a grainy home video with footage of the cats?! (Video was shot with my little Olympus camera.)

Today is wedding anniversary #28 for Hubby and me. (Where did the time go?!)
Anywhoo, I did a little video slide show of the 'early dating years' during our optometry school time in Oregon. (Yep, it includes Mount St Helens blowing!)

I don't watch very much tv, but I am hooked on The Office. On the last episode, Dwight's 'testing' of a spendy stroller really tickled my funny bone. I love how totally over the top it is.

With so many negative, stressful things in the news lately, couldn't we all use something upbeat?! Yeah, thought so! Tip o' the hat to Offspring #2 for this:

and now for something fun... again!

On Monday I posted a video of (my interpretation of) how Offspring #2 solved the problem of locking himself out of his bedroom at his summer apartment. Offspring #1 recently experienced a little apartment trouble of her own. (Trouble, thy name is flea.)

So in the interest of equal time (of silliness) for both Offspring, here is my interpretation of how her problem was solved.



And since the apartment is now flea-free (it was an inherited problem to start with by the way), Offspring #1 received the green light to adopt this cute, cute, cute (did I mention cute?) kitty from the shelter. She gets to pick him up on Tuesday. As you can see, she named him after a Narnia character.



I am really looking forward to meeting Mr. Tumnus!

and now for something fun...

Offspring #2 is up at college taking summer classes and doing some part time work. On July 4th he inadvertently locked himself out of his bedroom at his (sublet) apartment -- no key. I was impressed with how he solved the problem. I'm picturing that it went something like this:

cheesy art (in more ways than one)!

Just in time for the 4th! A man in Wisconsin has carved a 700-pound block of cheddar into a replica of Mount Rushmore. You can read the full story here. (Is it just me or does Washington look a little like a troll?)

I have relatives who live near Mount Rushmore, and I'll bet the reaction to this cheesy sculpture will be mixed. In fact, here's an early response from a local prairie dog:
