as seen on my starbuck's cup...

"The Way I See It"

"There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women."
--Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State and Ambassador to the U.N.

quote of the day

I was looking through USA Today after dinner (I know, it's a fluffy newspaper, but I like it), and ran across this quote:

"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."
--Nelson Henderson

I must confess I don't know who Nelson Henderson is, but I like his statement. It's a good one to ponder. While I know I've done some planting of trees (both literally and figuratively), I'm sure I could do more...

inspirational quote of the day

"It never hurts to help!"
-- Eek! the Cat

(Of course this statement always preceded the cheery, thoughtful cat getting totally mangled while trying to 'do good', but we won't think about that...)

quote of the day...

Was organizing "My Pictures" and ran across this one which I took last summer in North Dakota. Ah, Dakota. *Wistful sigh*
I love the expansive sky there -- great place for your soul to breathe.

Willa Cather described it this way: Elsewhere the sky is the roof of the world; but here the earth was the floor of the sky.

Let it blow, let it blow, let it blow...

I wondered last night... Do people save their most inept driving for when weather conditions are poor? It looked that way on the trip up to Bellingham, when people drove as if they were on the Autobahn during gusty winds and pouring rain. Which leads me to my quote of the day from my good buddy Albert Einstein:

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.
