It's that special time of year when Presbygal and I don our elf gear and do some holiday dancing. This year we invited a couple of swell guys -- George Clooney and James Taylor. Good times.

appearances of the divine

A couple of days ago I read a story about how an outline of the Virgin Mary appeared on a food griddle at a restaurant on the California/Mexico border. The faithful and the curious are flocking to see it. (You can read more here.)



As I recall, the Virgin Mary has previously appeared on a grilled cheese sandwich and on a pizza pan.

I must admit that I personally don't really see the Virgin Mary on the griddle (or grilled cheese or pizza pan) without using my imagination to some degree. Not like the appearance of Presbygal in my breakfast this morning. That was straightforward.

lunch with latifah!

You may recall on my post this past Saturday, I reviewed the movie The Secret Life of Bees and extended a lunch invitation for this coming Tuesday to Queen Latifah (because I think she would be great "BFF" material).

As it turns out, she reads my blog! Who knew?! And Latifah said "Why wait until Tuesday, Girl?!" So yesterday, Queen Latifah joined Presbyterian Gal (we couldn't leave her out!) and me at the local Sizzler. I know what you're thinking -- that place is certainly not classy enough for the three of us (and indeed we were overdressed). But Latifah is partial to their salad bar.

According to the Associated Press, a collector of photography from New York claims to have identified a rare photo of President Lincoln standing in front of the White House (what was then known as the Executive Mansion) in 1865. (Short article here.) The figure in the photo is tall and bearded, and the curator of the National Portrait Gallery's photographs department says he is "very satisfied that it's Lincoln":



Interestingly, if you zoom into one the windows another face appears.



After careful inspection, I'm "very satisfied that it's Presbyterian Gal". Or of course much more likely, an ancestor of PG.

It's that time of year again...

...when Presbyterian Gal and I get on our elf costumes and dance! This time Robert Redford asked if he could join us, and of course we said yes...

only three days until Halloween...

...and Presbyterian Gal and I are working feverishly to get ready:



Mr. Tumnus is in charge of the treats. That might be a mistake.



Garbage Puff has been hanging out at the Co-Op in Bellingham, trying to guess this pumpkin's weight and win a $20 gift certificate. He has placed 38 guesses so far. I think management will be asking him to leave soon.

The 4th of July is fast approaching, so Presbyterian Gal and I are getting in the spirit of things by re-enacting the signing of the Declaration of Independence.



Notice how Presbygal is grabbing the document... I think she has a couple of revisions in mind.

Yeah, yeah, I have lots of things I could and should be doing tonight, but messing with presbygal's face just seemed like more fun.
