happy mother's day...

Whoa! Here's a rather ominous looking picture for Mother's Day! What could this Grancel Fitz photograph mean?! I have three ideas:

(a) The photo suggests that the task of child rearing often seems to be a daunting one -- almost larger than life.

(b) Many moms try to do an especially good job because they realize that life is circular, and some day their kids may be taking care of them.

(c) One can do almost anything with a unique perspective and good photo editing software.

Any other ideas (or perhaps photo captions) out there?

wow, I think all three are possible interpretations of the picture. You know, in the hermeneutics biz, they call it a "surplus of meaning."

Babies are small, but motherhood does seem overwhelming at times. Have you ever read Anne Lamott's book, Operating Instructions? It's really hilarious, and at times has sort of that perspective.

today I preached at three services (plus one last night) and hosted my parent and my husband's parents for a mother's day supper (salads and muffins). I made my brother bring the pies. I am now exhausted. How about you?

Great picture and good suggestions for perspective. I don't have any ideas for the caption. Like Diane, I'm worn out.

Diane and St. Casserole, I can certainly understand why you two are tired! My Sunday hasn't been all that hectic... although I've been doing a few things in preparation for Offspring #2's upcoming high school graduation.

I can't think of any clever captions right now ... but I do love the pictures and reflections you come up with! (Interesting insight about effect of potential role reversal in the future.-:))
